Drug Policy

Paradise City and its partners want to make the drug phenomenon discussable and manageable, limit its risks, and send a signal that this is an important issue for all of us.

Although the use of illegal drugs is common at dance events, possession remains a criminal offence. The KASTZE police will be present at and around the festival grounds and will check for possession and use of illegal drugs. For festival visitors found in possession of or using certain quantities, the immediate amicable settlement procedure ("onmiddellijke minnelijke schikking" or OMS) will be initiated. This procedure is as follows:

  • The illegal drugs will be confiscated.
  • The visitor will pay a fine for each drug found (cannabis €150-200, all other illegal drugs €150-350). The fine can be paid immediately by debit card or QR code. If the fine is paid, no criminal proceedings will follow, and the facts will not be recorded on the criminal record.
  • For larger quantities, no OMS will be offered. Visitors suspected of dealing illegal drugs will be deprived of their liberty and risk being brought before the investigating judge or summoned to appear in summary proceedings.
  • In other special circumstances, the public prosecutor on duty will also be contacted.
