LTJ Bukem is one of the most influential pioneers of drum & bass, a DJ, producer and label founder whose vision helped redefine the genre’s possibilities. Emerging from London’s late-80s rave scene, Bukem developed a distinctive sound that blended fast breakbeats with lush atmospheres, jazz influences and soulful textures - laying the foundations for what would later be known as intelligent drum & bass. His breakthrough productions, such as Demon’s Theme, Horizons and Music, introduced a deeper, more melodic direction within breakbeat culture. Through his iconic label Good Looking Records, he championed a wave of artists and releases that pushed drum & bass toward a more atmospheric and musical territory. The label’s Logical Progression compilations became landmarks of the genre and helped bring the sound to audiences worldwide. Alongside his production work, Bukem is renowned for his legendary DJ sets and the influential Progression Sessions series. For more than three decades, he has continued to evolve while remaining a defining figure in soulful, jazz-infused drum & bass.
